People Access is a division of Excellence Canada (formerly the National Quality Institute), an independent, not-for-profit organization founded in 1992 by Industry Canada. Excellence Canada helps organizations to improve results and be recognized for excellence through the Canada Awards for Excellence program. Excellence Canada is supported by over 220 leading organizations, representing more than 600,000 employees across the country.

In 2009, Excellence Canada was selected by the Ontario Ministry of Community and Social Services to be an EnAbling Change Partner.

Our EnAbling Change mandate was to help raise awareness amongst the private and not-for-profit sectors about the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA). We work closely with the Accessibility Directorate of Ontario to help Ontarians with disabilities and the business community better understand each other’s needs, while ensuring a seamless implementation of the new AODA standards.

In 2010, Excellence Canada established a division called People Access to focus on Organizational Accessibility Excellence, which has broadened our outreach to include all sectors in all provinces. People Access is a resource centre providing accessibility information, training, and consulting services to help organizations comply with the AODA legislation while improving performance.
